The drummer of The New Deep Purple / Deep Purple Featuring Rod Evans was a guy called Dick Jurgens III. His father was a notable big band leader from the swing days and his son cut his teeth playing in his old man’s band.
Jurgens Snr was regarded enough within the entertainment industry for the Berkley Gazette to announce the birth of his son in their society pages. In a move that would astound us today, the press also printed the residence address of the Jurgens’ family.
It wasn’t the only time the talented drummer hit the press before he joined Rod Evans & Co. He was also featured Sacramento Bee when he accidently struck a girl riding a bike while he was on his motorcycle. Once again Jurgens’ full address was published.
I could find no follow up reports on the fate of the Victoria Gardener so it can be assumed she made a full recovery.
